Dillon Gabriel set a new NCAA record for total touchdowns with a 3-yard touchdown pass to Gernorris Wilson early in the second half of Oregon’s game against Maryland on Saturday.
That touchdown gave Gabriel 179 total touchdowns for his career, breaking the previous record held by Case Keenum, who had 178 total touchdowns (155 passing and 23 rushing) during his time at Houston from 2007-11.
Gabriel tied Keenum’s record just before halftime with a 9-yard touchdown pass to Terrance Ferguson, which was Gabriel’s 146th passing touchdown and his 21st touchdown pass of the season for No. 1 Oregon. He has also rushed for six touchdowns this season.
Gabriel, a sixth-year transfer from Oklahoma, now has 59 career starts, which is just two short of the NCAA record for most career starts, held by former Oregon quarterback Bo Nix.
