Dana White is getting ready to talk to Conor McGregor about coming back to the UFC.
It’s been almost three years since McGregor fought. His last match was against Dustin Poirier in July 2021, when he got injured and had to take a break.
McGregor has been saying he wants to return to the UFC. He wanted to fight Michael Chandler in June, but White said no. Then he wanted to fight Nate Diaz in September, but White said no again.
McGregor recently said he hadn’t talked to the UFC about coming back. But then he suddenly said he got the okay to announce his comeback fight against Michael Chandler for the summer. So what changed? Dana White explained.
On a podcast, Dana White said McGregor’s comeback was delayed because he’s been busy promoting his movie “Road House.” White wanted to make sure McGregor was really committed to coming back to the UFC before offering him a fight.
White said McGregor has been traveling all over the world for the movie premieres. He couldn’t focus on training because he had to promote the movie. But once the movie launches, McGregor can start training full-time again.
White also mentioned that when people start making a lot of money, they might lose some of their motivation. He thinks McGregor needs to get back into training full-time to be successful in the UFC again.
