PFL’s Donn Davis opens up on possibility of signing Conor McGregor when ‘The Notorious’ hits free agency: “We’re ready”

Donn Davis, the visionary behind the Professional Fighters League (PFL), is preparing to revolutionize the realm of free agency, eyeing none other than Conor McGregor as a potential centerpiece for the organization’s bold initiatives.

Dubbed ‘The Notorious,’ McGregor is eyeing a return to the octagon this summer, with his sights set on a bout against Michael Chandler. In recent weeks, McGregor has been vocal about his future in MMA, hinting that he has only two fights left on his contract with the UFC, led by Dana White.

While McGregor isn’t necessarily eager to part ways with the UFC, he has admitted uncertainty about what lies ahead. In the event that McGregor does become a free agent, he would undoubtedly have a plethora of options to explore, and one of them could very well be the PFL.

During a recent appearance on The MMA Hour alongside Ariel Helwani, Donn Davis discussed the prospect of McGregor’s free agency, not only in relation to McGregor but also in the context of other high-profile fighters like Jon Jones. Davis emphasized that the PFL is primed to orchestrate significant matchups and host monumental events in the future.

While Davis expressed confidence in the current roster of the PFL, he acknowledged the magnetic appeal that McGregor or similarly prominent figures would bring to the organization. With substantial backing from partners such as Saudi Arabia, the PFL is prepared to engage with McGregor should he become available.

In addressing McGregor’s potential free agency, Davis articulated, “Well, not addressing Conor per se, just addressing any fighter. You know, whether it’s Jon Jones, Conor McGregor, anybody.” He highlighted the PFL’s financial capacity to pursue ambitious endeavors and emphasized their eagerness to innovate and stage top-tier fights.

Davis reiterated, “So, we don’t need anything that we don’t have to make the biggest fights happen, with the biggest fighters, on the biggest stage. So, anybody that is interested, whenever they’re available, we’re ready. We’re the most creative, and the most aggressive, and we’re the most interested. So, that applies across the board [not just to McGregor].”

Notably, the PFL has already secured notable acquisitions in recent years, with signings such as Jake Paul and Francis Ngannou since 2023. Both athletes are poised to make their debuts in the organization, with Ngannou potentially facing Renan Ferreira and Paul’s opponent yet to be determined.
