Domantas Sabonis had an incredible game with 22 points, 20 rebounds, and nine assists as the Sacramento Kings secured a 109-95 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday night.

With this win, the Kings are now just one game behind the New Orleans Pelicans for sixth place in the Western Conference, aiming to avoid the play-in tournament. Sacramento, with a record of 44-31, is tied with Phoenix and has seven games left, including a crucial four-game trip starting Thursday in New York.

The Clippers, currently fourth in the West, struggled to score against the Kings’ defense, being held to under 100 points for only the fifth time this season.

Kings’ coach Mike Brown emphasized the importance of defense, stating, “This is how you win in the playoffs.” De’Aaron Fox contributed with 20 points and seven assists, while Keegan Murray added 19 points to support Sabonis’s outstanding performance.

The Kings displayed strong teamwork and communication on defense, frustrating the Clippers’ offense. Guard Davion Mitchell highlighted the team’s commitment to physical defense, particularly against star players like James Harden and Paul George.

Los Angeles played without Kawhi Leonard, who was sidelined due to a sore right knee. Coach Tyronn Lue hopes Leonard will return for the upcoming game against the Denver Nuggets. Despite Russell Westbrook’s 20-point effort leading the Clippers, they struggled to rebound and make shots when needed, leading to their defeat after winning the previous three games on their road trip.

The Kings took control of the game in the third quarter, outscoring the Clippers 35-19, with Sabonis and Murray making significant contributions.

Murray’s powerful dunk off a Clippers turnover showcased the Kings’ momentum and aggressiveness. Coach Brown praised Murray’s growing confidence and aggressiveness, highlighting his impact on the game.
