Atalanta vs Fiorentina

Atalanta moved forward to the Italian Cup final with a 4-1 victory over Fiorentina, who played with 10 players. They will now face Juventus in the showdown.

The crucial goal by Ademola Lookman was initially disallowed for offside, but after a VAR review, it was given the green light. Teun Koopmeiners, Gianluca Scamacca, and Mario Pasalic also contributed goals for Atalanta, while Lucas Martinez Quarta scored for Fiorentina, who had Nikola Milenkovic sent off during the game.

Atalanta secured their spot in the final with a 4-2 aggregate score, after Fiorentina won the first leg 1-0. Juventus, on the other hand, defeated Lazio in their semifinal match.

The final match is set to take place at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome on May 15.

Atalanta is also competing in the Europa League semifinals against Marseille, although their coach, Gian Piero Gasperini, was suspended for the match against Fiorentina. Atalanta’s victory over Liverpool in the quarterfinals was impactful.

Their previous major trophy win was the Italian Cup in 1963. The game was intense, with Lookman’s goal initially being disallowed for offside. However, after a video review, it was deemed valid, much to the delight of the fans. Pasalic later sealed the victory for Atalanta.

Fiorentina, meanwhile, is set to face Club Brugge in the Europa Conference League semifinals.
