Barcelona are rumored to be eyeing former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea for a summer transfer.

De Gea has been without a club since departing from the Red Devils last summer when his contract expired. The 33-year-old spent 12 seasons at Old Trafford after joining from Atlético Madrid in 2011.

During his time at Manchester United, De Gea made 545 appearances and holds the record for the most clean sheets in the club’s history with 190. Despite being offered a new contract, he turned it down due to lower wages and terms, opting to leave as a free agent.

According to reports from Fichajes.net (via The Hard Tackle), Barcelona is contemplating signing the Spanish goalkeeper on a free transfer.

This move raises eyebrows as they already have Marc-André ter Stegen as their established first-choice goalkeeper, with Inaki Pena serving as a reliable backup during Ter Stegen’s absence due to injury this season.

Nevertheless, Barcelona is reportedly considering De Gea, who has also attracted interest from Newcastle United and clubs in Saudi Arabia. However, De Gea is said to prefer a return to La Liga.

In addition to Barcelona, Real Betis and Sevilla have also emerged as potential destinations for the former Manchester United shot-stopper.
