Bayern Munich signed 22-year-old forward Michael Olise from Crystal Palace on Sunday, aiming to inject “new energy, new ideas” following their first trophy-less season in 12 years.

Olise, who agreed to a five-year contract with Bayern, scored 10 goals in 19 Premier League games last season despite battling injuries. His strong performance helped Palace finish the campaign on a high note.

This move, which has been eagerly anticipated, marks Olise as Bayern’s second confirmed signing under new coach Vincent Kompany, following Japanese defender Hiroki Ito from Stuttgart.

“Michael Olise is a player who can make a difference and has garnered significant interest with his playing style,” said Max Eberl, Bayern’s board member for sport. “We are seeking fresh momentum in our team—new energy, new ideas—and players like Michael Olise embody that.

He expressed a strong desire to join FC Bayern during our discussions. We are excited to have him join us; he will enhance our playing style.”

Born in London and a former France under-21 international, Olise departs Palace after appearing in 90 matches over three years.

“We are immensely proud of Michael’s accomplishments at Crystal Palace, where he developed significantly as a player,” stated Palace chairman Steve Parish. “We understand his ambition to challenge himself at the highest level of global football.

Personally, I wish him the best in his next chapter with Bayern Munich in Germany, which I’m sure we will all follow closely.”

Bayern aims to revamp its squad after missing out on the Bundesliga title to Bayer Leverkusen and finishing third under former coach Thomas Tuchel.
