Harvey Elliott was thoroughly impressed by the performance of Liverpool’s teenage talent Jayden Danns during their 3-0 victory over Southampton in the fifth round of the FA Cup on February 28.

Danns made a significant impact after coming on as a substitute in the 63rd minute for fellow academy graduate Lewis Koumas, who had already found the back of the net earlier in the game on his senior debut at Anfield.

Following an assist from Elliott, Danns confidently scored Liverpool’s second goal of the match, demonstrating composure in front of goal. His exceptional attacking instincts were further showcased when he capitalized on a rebound from Conor Bradley’s shot, tapping it into the net to secure Liverpool’s victory.

Despite being just 20 years old, Elliott has already amassed over 100 appearances for Liverpool, contributing eight goals and eight assists to the team. He has cemented his place as a crucial player in Jürgen Klopp’s squad.

As a seasoned player himself, Elliott was amazed by Danns’ performance. In an interview with ITV Sport, he expressed his admiration, stating, “Ever since this man (Danns) came on this season, he’s been amazing.”

Danns was left speechless after the match, describing the experience as “a dream come true” and feeling as though he was “in a movie.” With two goals in just three senior appearances, Danns has made a remarkable impact.

Klopp has demonstrated his trust in the emerging talent by promoting several young players to the senior squad during the 2023-24 season, with many of them rising to the occasion. Players like Jarell Quansah and Conor Bradley have already proven themselves as integral members of the first team.
