Rasmus Hojlund

Manchester United forward Rasmus Hojlund is facing a setback as he is expected to sit out the next five games across various competitions due to a muscle injury.

The Red Devils secured Hojlund’s services from Atalanta last summer in a significant deal worth around £72 million. Initially, the Danish striker encountered challenges finding the net for Erik ten Hag’s team, prompting some criticism until the end of December when he broke his Premier League goal drought.

However, Hojlund’s performance notably improved in the UEFA Champions League, where he scored five goals during the group stage matches for Manchester United. His form took a positive turn in the Premier League after his crucial goal against Aston Villa on Boxing Day.

Since then, the Danish international has impressively scored in every league fixture he participated in, amassing a total of seven goals and two assists in the Premier League.

Erik ten Hag

Regrettably, Manchester United received a blow with the confirmation from Erik ten Hag during his press conference on Friday (February 23) before the Fulham match that Hojlund would be sidelined for the next two to three weeks due to injury.

The United manager stated (via Metro):

“It’s a minor injury, expected to keep him out for two or three weeks. It’s part of the game’s intensity. While it’s not a major injury, he’ll need to rest for a couple of weeks.”

This implies that Hojllund is likely to miss Manchester United’s upcoming five matches. Following their game against Fulham, he may sit out their FA Cup fifth-round fixture against Nottingham Forest, as well as league matches against Manchester City, Everton, and Sheffield United.
