Man United, lacking inspiration, fortunate to secure a draw against Brentford in an intense finale

Manchester United vs Brentford

During Alex Ferguson’s time as manager, Manchester United was famous for scoring important goals late in matches.

Under the current coach Erik ten Hag, however, there hasn’t been anything similar. In their recent game against Brentford, Manchester United gave up a lead they didn’t deserve in stoppage time and ended up with a 1-1 draw in the English Premier League.

This uninspired performance further hurt Manchester United’s chances of qualifying for the Champions League. They were now in sixth place, trailing behind Tottenham by eight points.

Brentford kept putting pressure on Manchester United’s goalkeeper, Andre Onana, who made four saves and saw the ball hit the woodwork four times.

Against the flow of the game, Manchester United scored a goal in stoppage time through Mason Mount. But their joy was short-lived, as Brentford equalized just three minutes later, with Kristoffer Ajer finding the net.

Mount admitted that while scoring late gave them hope of winning, the performance wasn’t up to their standards, and maybe they didn’t deserve the victory.

Despite Brentford’s relentless attacks, they couldn’t convert their chances efficiently. This was evident as they had 31 attempts on goal before finally scoring.
