Manchester United has made more adjustments to its executive team, marking the ongoing changes under co-owner Jim Ratcliffe.
Interim CEO Patrick Stewart and chief financial officer Cliff Baty are stepping down at the season’s end by mutual agreement, according to the club’s announcement.
Jean-Claude Blanc, CEO of Ratcliffe’s INEOS Sport, will serve as chief executive until Omar Berrada, formerly with Manchester City, takes over on July 13. Roger Bell, the former INEOS Sport chief financial officer, will replace Baty.
“I want to personally thank Patrick and Cliff for their help in familiarizing us with the club and for making us feel welcome. I respect their decisions to move on as we assemble a new management team,” said Ratcliffe, one of Britain’s wealthiest individuals.
INEOS, the petrochemicals giant, acquired a 25% stake in United in February, leading to significant changes within the club. Previous CEO Richard Arnold stepped down in November, and football director John Murtough departed earlier this month.
Ratcliffe’s investment has given him control over United’s soccer operations, with INEOS director of sport Dave Brailsford and Blanc joining the club’s board.
In addition to Berrada’s appointment, former City academy director Jason Wilcox has been named technical director, with Newcastle sporting director Dan Ashworth also being considered for a role.
