Jim Ratcliffe, a minority owner of Manchester United, flew in to watch the team play Aston Villa in the Premier League on Sunday as pressure increases on manager Erik ten Hag.

Ratcliffe sat at Villa Park with United’s new leadership team, including chief executive Omar Berrada, technical director Jason Wilcox, sporting director Dan Ashworth, and Dave Brailsford, a key member of Ratcliffe’s Ineos Sport.

After attending a sailing event in Barcelona on Friday where INEOS Britannia secured a place in the America’s Cup finals, Ratcliffe spoke to the BBC but did not express confidence in Ten Hag. He mentioned that the decision about Ten Hag’s future is up to the executives he appointed to manage the club.

Before the match against Villa, United was in 14th place in the 20-team Premier League, having lost three of their first six games.
