Roy Keane didn’t mince words in his assessment of West Ham’s performance during their 6-0 drubbing by Arsenal at the London Stadium.
The Hammers found themselves trailing 4-0 at halftime, with goals from William Saliba, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Magalhaes, and Leandro Trossard leaving them in a dire situation.
Keane, speaking on Sky Sports during halftime, didn’t hold back his criticism, labeling West Ham’s display as “an absolute disgrace.”
He pointed out the lack of physicality and tackling from the West Ham players, particularly highlighting their failure to contain Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard. Keane expressed his dismay at their sluggishness in midfield and their apparent lack of desire and hunger.
While acknowledging Arsenal’s sharpness and dominance, Keane reserved his strongest condemnation for West Ham, emphasizing that their performance fell well below acceptable standards.
The second half didn’t offer much respite for West Ham, as Saka netted his second goal and Declan Rice, a former West Ham player, added insult to injury with a long-range strike to make it 6-0.
Despite some negative reactions from the home crowd directed at Rice, Arsenal continued to dominate, securing a comprehensive victory without further concessions from West Ham’s defense.
