Liverpool will enter the clash with United as strong favorites, aiming to add another trophy to their cabinet under Klopp’s guidance. Despite clinching the Carabao Cup recently by defeating Chelsea at Wembley, Klopp is determined to maximize Liverpool’s silverware tally in his final season.
With Liverpool also leading the Premier League table and progressing to the Europa League’s last-16, the prospect of a quadruple looms large.
However, amidst this ambition, the draw against United in the FA Cup has added a poignant note to Klopp’s managerial journey. A hypothetical draw against Manchester City away would have granted Klopp a final visit to the Etihad Stadium.
Regrettably, that scenario didn’t materialize, effectively closing the chapter on Klopp’s encounters with City at their home ground, at least for the foreseeable future. Notably, Klopp’s track record at the Etihad Stadium, highlighted by journalist Amos Murphy, stands at two wins out of twelve visits with Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund combined.
Liverpool’s previous visit to Manchester ended in a 1-1 draw last November, salvaged by a late goal from Trent Alexander-Arnold after Erling Haaland’s opener.
Klopp’s tally at the Etihad Stadium comprises two wins, five draws, and five defeats. The upcoming clash against City on March 10 at Anfield might mark Klopp’s showdown against the reigning Premier League champions, adding significance to the encounter.
