Dennis te Kloese, the technical director of Feyenoord, insists that he immediately turned the offer of Tottenham Hotspurs when the premier league giants approached him.

In an interview with ESPN, Dennis Te Kloese admits that Arne Slot, the manager who led Feyenoord to their first Eredivisie title since 2017, making it their only second in the 21st century, was ‘very close’ to becoming the manager of the North London club prior to when Tottenham Hotspur shifted their focus on the former Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou.

However, Arne Slot was not the only one of Feyenoord’s title-winning squad who caught the eyes of the people of the North London Club.

Te Kloese, the technical director of Feyenoord since 2022, has left his mark on the diligently prepared team, and the stepping down of Fabio Paratici as the managing director of the team opened the door for 49-year-old Te Kloese to possibly joining Arne Slot at space age stadium of Tottenham Hotspurs.

Tottenham Pursued Two Feyenoord Legends for Recruitment

“Arne Slot was closer than me to joining Tottenham,” Te Kloese reports to ESPN. “I think that Slot was very close to a transfer for Tottenham. That is why we are happy that he is still here. We also hope that that choice works out well for him.

“I honestly hope that we will be in the same position next year package because that would mean that we have had a good year.

“I have no interest in working elsewhere. Personally, it is not a good time to go elsewhere,” Te Kloese adds. “My family is just starting to get used to the Netherlands, even though the weather is less favorable now!

“Tottenham’s interest is flattering, of course. But I immediately gave that club a ‘no.’”

Tottenham and Feyenoord Maintain Undefeated Records

Feyenoord stay unbeaten in their first five games, although they have drawn their last couple of games this season.

On the other hand, Tottenham Hotspurs are also yet to lose under Postecoglou either. The spectacular victory over Sheffield United on Saturday gave Tottenham their league start since England last won The World Cup.
