Max Verstappen quips that he would “completely wreck” his car and depart if he were in Logan Sargeant’s situation

Logan Sargeant

Williams didn’t have an extra car ready for the early races of the F1 2024 season. This caused a big problem when Alex Albon crashed hard during practice at the Australian Grand Prix.

Although Albon wasn’t hurt, his car, the Williams FW46, was badly damaged and couldn’t be fixed at the track.

As a result, Williams decided to give Albon the car meant for Logan Sargeant for the rest of the Australian Grand Prix. Sargeant, who had done nothing wrong, had to watch from the garage.

Red Bull’s three-time World Champion Max Verstappen joked that if he were in Sargeant’s shoes, he’d ruin his car too so his teammate couldn’t use it.

Verstappen said, “From a performance perspective, I get it, but it’s still tough for Logan.”

Sargeant, however, stayed in Australia to support his team despite calling it the “hardest moment” of his career.

Albon, appreciative of Sargeant’s response, took the sole remaining Williams car to 12th on the grid in Melbourne, alongside seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton. Hamilton struggled with his Mercedes W15’s inconsistency.
