Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks has made history by clinching the NBA’s top scorer title for the season, marking a significant milestone for the franchise. Despite the Mavericks boasting a legacy of formidable scoring threats over the decades, Doncic stands alone as their first player to achieve this distinction.

Finishing the season with an impressive average of 33.9 points per game, Doncic outpaced his closest competitors by a notable margin. Doncic’s dominance extended beyond just leading in average points per game; he also topped the charts for total points scored throughout the season.

His stellar performance placed him nearly four points ahead of Giannis Antetokounmpo, who secured the second spot with 30.4 points per game, while Shia Gilgeous-Alexander trailed closely behind as the third top scorer with 30.1 points per game.

Despite attempting fewer free throws per game compared to the previous season, Doncic showcased remarkable improvement in his free throw shooting, elevating his percentage from 74% to 78%. However, his most notable improvement came in his 3-point shooting game.

Despite increasing his attempts per game to 10.6, he remarkably raised his shooting percentage from 34% to 38%, a commendable feat that defies the odds of increased volume and improved efficiency.

Highlighting his season was a career-defining performance where Doncic exploded for a staggering 73 points against the Atlanta Hawks. Despite the extraordinary feat, it seemed effortless for Doncic, leaving the impression that he could have achieved even more if pushed by stronger competition.
