Adrián Beltré watches the batting of the team

Adrian Beltré will throw the ceremonial first pitch at the All-Star Game at the Texas Rangers’ home stadium, where he played his final seasons before being inducted into the Hall of Fame. Joining him will be former Rangers pitchers Fergie Jenkins and Nolan Ryan, along with catcher Iván Rodríguez.

Beltré’s official induction into the Hall of Fame is scheduled for Sunday in Cooperstown.

Now 45 years old, Beltré spent eight of his 21 seasons with the Rangers and reached the World Series in 2011, his first year with the team.

Throughout his career, he earned four All-Star selections and received five Gold Glove Awards. Beltré retired with impressive statistics: 3,166 hits and 477 home runs. His 2,759 games played at third base rank second only to Brooks Robinson.

Remarkably, he hit for the cycle three times, achieving the last one at the age of 36.

Beltré’s 3,000th career hit occurred during a home game on July 30, 2017, shortly after Rodríguez had delivered his induction speech at Cooperstown.

Both Rodríguez and Beltré are serving as All-Star ambassadors this week, with Beltré also managing the American League team in the Futures Game over the weekend.

Beltré will soon join Rodríguez and Nolan Ryan as the only Hall of Fame members to wear Rangers caps on their plaques. Fergie Jenkins’ plaque features a Chicago Cubs cap.
