Detroit Tigers vs Pittsburgh Pirates

Gio Urshela, Kerry Carpenter, and Jake Rogers each hit RBI singles in the ninth inning, helping the Detroit Tigers to a 5-3 comeback victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday.

The win marked Detroit’s second victory in six games, as they capitalized on opportunities against Pirates closer David Bednar, who struggled, blowing his third save in four attempts.

Initially trailing 3-1 heading into the ninth, the Tigers capitalized on Bednar’s struggles. The rally started with a walk to Derek Greene and a hit-by-pitch to Spencer Torkelson. Urshela’s single drove in both runners, aided by a mishandled throw by Michael A.
