Ronel Blanco had a great game, striking out eight batters in six innings, while Mauricio Dubon scored twice, helping the Houston Astros secure a 3-1 win against the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday night.
Blanco, with a record of 6-2, allowed only one run on three hits. He relied more on his fastball, surprising some of the Giants’ batters.
Astros manager Joe Espada was pleased with Blanco’s performance, stating, “We needed a good outing from Blanco, and he gave us that.”
In the fifth inning, Houston took a 3-1 lead when two runs scored on an RBI infield single by Alex Bregman. An error by Gold Glove third baseman Matt Chapman allowed both runners to score.
Espada praised his team for being effective in RBI situations, noting that all their runs were scored without leaving the infield.
Ryan Pressly secured the win with two strikeouts in the ninth inning. Houston limited the Giants to just three hits, which is their lowest this season.
Despite losing a lead in the previous game, the Astros showed resilience, bouncing back strongly.
Both teams scored a run in the third inning. Dubon scored on Jose Altuve’s groundout after hitting a leadoff double, and Brett Wisely homered for the Giants. Dubon, who played for San Francisco from 2019-22, had a successful game, going 2 for 3 with two doubles.
Alex Bregman commented on the team’s improved offensive performance, especially with runners in scoring position.
