Logan Gilbert pitches the ball against the batter

Andrés Muñoz of the Seattle Mariners took Logan Gilbert’s spot on the AL roster for Tuesday’s All-Star Game.

Gilbert is set to pitch on Sunday against the Los Angeles Angels, Seattle’s final game before the All-Star break, and will not be participating in Arlington, Texas.

Muñoz, a 25-year-old right-handed pitcher, came into Friday with impressive numbers: 15 saves in 17 opportunities, six holds, and a 1.45 ERA. He has struck out 45 batters and walked 16 in 37 1/3 innings.

Muñoz is among the 37 first-time All-Stars this year and is one of eight replacements — four from each league — increasing the total number of All-Stars to 72.

Earlier additions to the AL roster included Minnesota’s Willi Castro, Baltimore’s Anthony Santander, and Jordan Westburg of the Orioles, who replaced Houston’s Jose Altuve (sore left hand), Boston’s Rafael Devers (left shoulder soreness), and Houston’s Kyle Tucker (bruised right shin).

For the National League, Pittsburgh’s Paul Skenes, Cincinnati’s Elly De La Cruz and Hunter Greene, along with San Francisco’s Heliot Ramos, were replacements for Philadelphia’s Zach Wheeler (back spasms), Los Angeles Dodgers’ Mookie Betts (broken left hand), Tyler Glasnow (back tightness), and San Diego’s Fernando Tatis Jr. (right thigh).

Marcus Semien of the Texas Rangers replaced Altuve in the AL starting lineup.

Skenes, with only 11 big league starts, is set to start for the National League.
