The Atlanta Braves made two moves involving infielders on Thursday. They acquired utility infielder Zack Short from the Boston Red Sox and sent infielder Luis Guillorme to the Los Angeles Angels, both transactions involving cash.
Guillorme, who played five games at second base and one at shortstop for the Braves this season, along with pitching one inning in relief, was traded to the Angels. The 29-year-old Guillorme had a batting average of .150 in 20 at-bats. He previously played for the New York Mets from 2018 to 2023, with a career batting average of .258.
Short, aged 28, was designated for assignment by the Red Sox on Wednesday before the Braves acquired him for cash. Short had no hits in seven at-bats with Boston after being traded from the Mets on May 1.
Previously, he was designated for assignment by the Mets on April 26. Short has played multiple infield positions this season and has a career batting average of .177 with 13 homers, 55 RBIs, and eight stolen bases in 189 games between Detroit (2021-23) and the Mets.
