Houston Rockets center Alperen Şengün sustained a leg injury in the closing moments of Sunday’s game against the Sacramento Kings and had to be escorted off the court in a wheelchair.

Şengün’s injury occurred during the fourth quarter when he landed awkwardly on his left leg while contesting Domantas Sabonis’ layup attempt on a fast break. Following the unfortunate landing, the 21-year-old remained on the floor in evident discomfort until the medical staff attended to him.

Eventually, he was assisted into a wheelchair, his face concealed by his hands, and taken to the locker room for further evaluation.

Having been a standout performer for the Rockets this season, Şengün’s injury is a significant setback. He has been averaging career-high numbers of 21.2 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game, showcasing his development in his third year in the league.

Before departing the game with just 39 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, Şengün had contributed 14 points, six rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Despite his absence in the closing stages, the Rockets managed to secure a 112–104 victory, staging an impressive comeback from a 13-point deficit.
