Sacramento Kings head coach Mike Brown was fined $35,000 by the NBA on Tuesday for aggressively approaching a game official during live play.
The fine came after Brown rushed toward the referees when no foul was called following Colby Jones’ drive to the basket in the second quarter of the Kings’ 108-103 loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday. Instead of a foul, Brown was given a technical foul.
Brown, 54, has faced league penalties in the past for his behavior toward officials. On January 16, he was fined $50,000 after he entered the court to argue with referee Intae Hwang, leading to his ejection in a 143-142 overtime loss to the Milwaukee Bucks. Afterward, Brown used a laptop in his postgame press conference to show several calls he disagreed with.
In 2012, while coaching the Los Angeles Lakers, Brown was suspended for one game without pay and fined $25,000 for making contact with an official.
Brown, a two-time NBA Coach of the Year, has a career record of 449 wins and 296 losses as a head coach for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Lakers, and Kings.
