OG Anunoby drives forward with the ball

OG Anunoby will be absent from the New York Knicks’ lineup in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference semifinals on Friday due to a strained left hamstring. Meanwhile, Jalen Brunson’s availability is uncertain due to his sore right foot.

Despite Brunson’s return in the previous game after missing the second quarter, helping the Knicks secure a 130-121 victory and a 2-0 lead over the Indiana Pacers, Anunoby sustained his injury in the second half. This left the Knicks without another starter in their already depleted frontcourt.

Anunoby exited the court limping and holding the back of his leg after seemingly injuring himself while attempting a fast-break layup in the third quarter.

The Knicks have a strong record of 26-5 when Anunoby is on the court since he joined the team from Toronto on Dec. 30.

With All-Star forward Julius Randle already sidelined for the remainder of the season due to shoulder surgery, and key reserves Mitchell Robinson and Bojan Bogdanovic out during the playoffs, the Knicks’ roster faces significant challenges due to injuries.
