Otto Porter Jr., who was selected as the third overall pick in the 2013 Draft and contributed to Golden State’s championship victory in the 2021-22 season, has officially declared his retirement after an illustrious 11-year career in the NBA.
Throughout his journey spanning teams like Washington, Chicago, Orlando, Golden State, and Toronto, Porter, now 30, leaves behind a legacy with averages of 10.3 points and 4.9 rebounds across 527 games. Notably, his career 3-point shooting percentage of 39.7% places him 61st in NBA history.
Beginning his professional career after being drafted from Georgetown University, Porter initially faced challenges, averaging a modest 2.1 points per game as a rookie but steadily enhancing his performance to an impressive 14.7 points per game by his fifth season.
Despite grappling with injuries, particularly during his tenures with the Bulls and the Magic, Porter showcased resilience and played a crucial role in Golden State’s championship-winning campaign, appearing in 63 games and contributing an average of 8.2 points per game, primarily as a reserve player.
Following his tenure with the Raptors over the past two seasons, Porter’s journey in the league concluded with his trade to Utah on February 8. However, he was waived by the Jazz without making an appearance, leading to his subsequent retirement announcement.
