The Boston Celtics secured another key player for their team on Sunday by reaching a four-year, $45 million contract extension with Sam Hauser, according to a source familiar with the agreement.

Hauser made 197 3-pointers last season, the second most on the team after Jayson Tatum. He joins All-Star teammate Derrick White in signing extensions this summer.

Hauser will earn $2 million next season before his new deal begins in the 2025-26 season. The details were confirmed to The Associated Press by the source, who requested anonymity because the agreement had not yet been announced.

ESPN was the first to report the extension.

After going undrafted from Virginia in 2021, Hauser became an important player for the Celtics. He played in 79 games last season, starting in 13, and averaged a career-high 9.0 points per game.

Hauser ranked 11th in the NBA in 3-point shooting percentage at 42.4%, and his career mark of 42.2% is the highest in Celtics history among players with at least 250 made 3-pointers.

Standing at 6-foot-8, Hauser set a record by making 10 3-pointers in less than 23 minutes of a game against Washington on March 17, marking the fewest minutes played in NBA history for a player with 10 or more 3-pointers in a game.
