A 20-year-old NFL content creator faced a season-long suspension following his involvement in a Tyreek Hill touchdown celebration. During Week 6, Hill marked his score by seizing Kevin Fitzgibbons’ phone and capturing himself executing a backflip. Despite the video being shared on the NFL’s social media, Fitzgibbons had his game-day credentials revoked for the remainder of the year.
Known as “kfitz” online, the University of Miami junior was observed enthusiastically jumping and mimicking the act of photographing Hill during the celebration. In an X post titled “The journey continues…,” Fitzgibbons conveyed the NFL’s stance on the matter, stating that he was disciplined irrespective of whether he anticipated the celebration or not. The league deemed his presence on the sidelines post-play inappropriate.
Fitzgibbons, asserting a close friendship with Hill, mentioned meeting the NFL star and other athletes like Saquon Barkley in 2020 through social media networking. He previously identified himself as working for Hill. In a positive turn, the Miami Dolphins wide receiver announced on Thursday that he would cover Fitzgibbons’ wages for the remainder of the NFL season, emphasizing their longstanding history and partnership.
Hill assured reporters that he and Fitzgibbons would persist in their collaboration, encouraging Fitzgibbons to stay resilient despite the incident. Expressing solidarity, Hill pledged to cover his friend’s salary, ensuring he wouldn’t be unemployed due to the suspension. The NFL spokesperson confirmed that Fitzgibbons would retain sideline access on game days beyond the current season. Additionally, Fitzgibbons was offered the chance to contribute content to other projects moving forward.
