The NHL has confirmed the production of a second season for its behind-the-scenes docuseries, “Faceoff: Inside the NHL,” developed in partnership with the creators of the highly acclaimed “Formula 1: Drive to Survive.” Scheduled to premiere in 2025, the series aims to provide fans with an in-depth look at the players, their families, and the dynamics of professional hockey. Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk is the first confirmed participant for the new season, having previously appeared with his family in Season 1.

Season 1, produced by Box To Box and NHL Productions, featured six episodes chronicling the 2024 NHL playoffs. The series spotlighted prominent figures like Connor McDavid, captain of the Edmonton Oilers, and Matthew Tkachuk, Brady’s brother and a Stanley Cup-winning forward for the Florida Panthers. Released on Amazon Prime Video in October, the debut season garnered praise for offering a behind-the-scenes view of the high-stakes competition and personal moments of the league’s top players.

According to Steve Mayer, the NHL’s president of content and events, the second season will delve even deeper into the lives of players and their families. Mayer highlighted the show’s ability to deliver a range of emotions, from intense drama to humor and heartfelt moments, as it portrays the realities of life in the NHL. The league is committed to building on the success of the first season with an expanded focus and more immersive storytelling.

By continuing the docuseries, the NHL hopes to strengthen its connection with fans while reaching new audiences. Through a blend of personal stories and professional challenges, “Faceoff: Inside the NHL” demonstrates the human side of the sport, offering a fresh perspective on what it takes to compete at the highest level. Season 2 promises to elevate this narrative, bringing viewers closer to the players and the game than ever before.
