Nick Pivetta teamed up with two relievers to keep the Atlanta Braves to just one hit, while Rafael Devers hit two home runs and drove in three runs to lead the Boston Red Sox to a 9-0 victory on Wednesday.

Pivetta pitched for seven innings, allowing only one hit, which was a leadoff single by Austin Riley in the fourth inning. Despite feeling less than perfect on the mound, Pivetta credited his team’s strong offensive support for allowing him to focus on attacking the strike zone and securing the win.

Devers’ impressive performance included a solo home run in the second inning and a two-run homer in the seventh, marking his 17th multi-homer game and first since July 14, 2023. With 13 homers this season, Devers has been a key player for the Red Sox.

Manager Alex Cora praised Devers for his focused approach at the plate, highlighting his ability to stay disciplined, use the entire field, and hit the ball with power.

Jarren Duran also contributed with a solo home run in the eighth inning, his fourth of the season. Other players like Rob Refsnyder, Tyler O’Neill, and Dominic Smith each had two hits, helping the Red Sox secure their fifth win in 12 games and improve to a 31-31 record.

On the Braves’ side, pitcher Spencer Schwellenbach allowed six runs over 4 2/3 innings in his second career start. Despite the loss, Braves manager Brian Snitker praised Schwellenbach’s effort, noting his ability to throw strikes and compete on the mound.

Boston took an early 3-0 lead in the second inning, with Devers’ leadoff homer followed by hits from O’Neill and Smith, leading to runs scored by David Hamilton and Reese McGuire.
