With this win, the Phillies completed a sweep of the NL Central leaders and improved their record to 44-19, making them the top team in the National League as they prepare for a weekend series against the New York Mets in London.
Nola, with a record of 8-2 this season, delivered an impressive performance with five strikeouts and no walks. Despite signing a lucrative contract in the offseason, Nola expressed his contentment with being part of the Phillies.
Relievers Jeff Hoffman and José Alvarado closed out the game, preserving Nola’s shutout and securing the win for the Phillies.
Brewers starter Aaron Ashby, making his second start after returning from shoulder surgery, struggled with his command. Despite managing to avoid trouble in the early innings, Ashby eventually allowed two walks in the fifth inning, leading to Castellanos’ decisive two-run homer.
Castellanos, who had also delivered a walk-off hit the previous night, continued his strong performance at the plate, hitting .273 during the homestand after a slow start to the season.
