Princess of Wales waves as she makes her way to the center court ahead of the men's single final

The Princess of Wales arrived at the All England Club on Sunday for the Wimbledon men’s final, marking only her second public outing since she announced her cancer diagnosis.

Kate, the wife of Prince William, who is in line for the throne, received a warm welcome with a standing ovation from the Centre Court crowd as she took her seat in the Royal Box before the championship match between Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz.

Accompanied by her 9-year-old daughter, Princess Charlotte, they arrived at the southwest London venue in a motorcade about half an hour before the final was due to start.

They visited a terrace at the club connected to the main stadium by a walkway and greeted several people, including 2021 U.S. Open champion Emma Raducanu and other young British tennis players.

Kate wore a purple dress, one of the official colors of Wimbledon.

Since 2016, she has served as the patron of the All England Club, which hosts Wimbledon annually. Her duties include presenting the winner’s trophies after the singles finals, although she was absent on Saturday when Barbora Krejcikova won the women’s title against Jasmine Paolini.

Kate shared in March that she was undergoing chemotherapy for cancer. Her only previous public appearance since then was attending King Charles III’s birthday parade last month.

Before that event, she stated that she was making progress but had both good and challenging days.
