The Arizona Cardinals are reaching a crucial point in their rebuilding process. Monti Ossenfort, the team’s second-year general manager, has been preparing for this draft since he took the job in January 2023.

The Cardinals now have 11 picks, including six in the top 90, giving them a great chance to strengthen their roster.

Despite finishing with a 4-13 record last season, the Cardinals showed improvement, especially after quarterback Kyler Murray returned from a torn ACL.

With two first-round picks (No. 4 and No. 27), the Cardinals are considering various options, including adding top wide receiver talent like Marvin Harrison Jr., Malik Nabers, or Rome Odunze. However, Ossenfort has remained cautious about revealing their exact plans.

While trading down is a possibility, Ossenfort emphasizes the unpredictability of the draft process.

The team also made strategic moves during free agency, signing players like offensive lineman Jonah Williams, linebacker Mack Wilson, defensive lineman Justin Jones, and cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting.

Given their need for playmakers in the passing game, targeting a standout receiver with the No. 4 pick makes sense. Tight end Trey McBride had a strong season in 2023, but the Cardinals could use more firepower to support Murray.

Ossenfort highlights the depth and talent in this year’s receiver class, emphasizing the importance of finding players who can consistently get open and make catches.
