After an extensive period of Counter-Strike gameplay in recent weeks, the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 RMR Qualifiers have concluded.

Following a rigorous Open bracket and subsequent Closed Qualifiers, many anticipated teams have successfully secured their spots in the RMR, scheduled to take place across all regions in February and March.

Subsequently, the RMR champions will proceed to Denmark for the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024, marking the inaugural CS2 Major.

The Qualifying Favorites

In the Closed Qualifiers, prominent teams largely lived up to expectations. Across Europe, teams such as MOUZ, Heroic, Astralis, and Spirit have solidified their positions in the February RMR event in Bucharest.

Similarly, NAVI, Cloud9, and Virtus.pro faced minimal resistance on their way through the Closed Qualifiers. The list of European teams qualifying for the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 RMR includes the following:

NAVI
Cloud9
Virtus.pro
SAW
BetBoom Team
9Pandas
OG
Fnatic
Ecstatic
Nexus Gaming
3DMAX

Amkal Esports
Eternal Fire
Astralis
Team Spirit
ex-Thunderflash
KOI
MOUZ
Heroic
Preasy
PERA

BIG’s unexpected early exit, losing 1:3, stands out as a significant upset. This defeat proved to be a setback for the German team, who also missed the BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023.

Beyond the EU Qualifiers, a similar narrative unfolds. In Asia, favorites like The MongolZ, TYLOO, and Lynn Vision secured their places in the RMR. The Americas witnessed the progression of teams such as Liquid, Complexity, M80, and MIBR to the Monterrey RMR in March.

Underdog Triumphs

While many favorites advanced, there were notable underdog stories. South American team Legacy successfully fought their way through, granting legend Coldzera the opportunity to participate in another Major.

In the EU region, the ex-Thunderflash roster earned the fifth spot with an impressively resilient 3:1 run. Danish team Preasy also defied the odds in the Closed Qualifier Decider, enabling Dupreeh to extend his CS Major record as the only player to attend every single Major.

All the teams from the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 RMR Closed Qualifiers will now join the elite company. Twelve teams received direct invitations to the RMRs based on their performance in the BLAST.tv Paris Major last year, thus avoiding the challenging Qualifiers.

The European RMR A is set to kick off on February 14th as the first event in this exciting series.
