Sean O’Malley successfully defended his bantamweight belt on Saturday night, securing a unanimous decision victory over Marlon Vera in the main event bout at UFC 299 in Miami.

O’Malley (18-1-0) dominated the scorecards, with judges scoring it 50-45, 50-45, and 50-44, in a rematch of their UFC 252 encounter, where Vera claimed a technical knockout victory on August 16, 2020. This defeat remains O’Malley’s sole loss in his professional career.

Vera’s record dropped to 23-9-1 following Saturday’s loss, with a record of 5-3-0 since his triumph over O’Malley in 2020.

During Saturday’s bout, O’Malley landed a significant total of 232 strikes compared to Vera’s 89.

In other notable matchups, Dustin Poirier (30-8-0) secured a knockout victory over Benoit Saint-Denis (13-2-0) with a punch in the second round of their lightweight clash. Michael Page (22-2-0) emerged victorious via unanimous decision, defeating Kevin Holland (25-11-0) in welterweight action.
