Manchester United legend Gary Neville showered praise on Chelsea right-back Malo Gusto for his stellar performance against Crystal Palace on Monday, February 12.

The Blues clinched a 3-1 victory at Selhurst Park in the Premier League. Despite falling behind to Jefferson Lerma’s goal in the 30th minute, they staged a remarkable comeback in the second half.

Conor Gallagher found the net twice, with his first goal coming from Gusto’s precise cross in the 47th minute. Enzo Fernández sealed the victory with a goal three minutes into stoppage time. Gusto, who played for 84 minutes, put on an impressive display, providing a crucial assist.

He showcased his defensive prowess with four tackles, one interception, and one clearance, winning 9 out of 14 duels.

Additionally, the right-back displayed his passing accuracy by completing 87 out of 94 passes, along with two key passes. Despite losing possession 23 times, Gusto managed to complete 2 out of 5 dribble attempts.

Reflecting on the game during the commentary on Sky Sports, Neville lauded Gusto’s performance, stating:

“I thought Gusto was Chelsea’s best player in the first half by a mile. He’s started the second half really well.”

Gusto has admirably filled in at right-back this season in the absence of first-choice and captain Reece James due to injury. The Frenchman, who arrived from Olympique Lyon last summer for a reported fee of £30 million, has contributed six assists in 23 games for Chelsea.
