Victor Wembanyama provided a light-hearted perspective when discussing his remarkable performance, which saw him achieve a rare triple-double, albeit in blocks instead of assists.

The top pick of the 2023 NBA Draft showcased his versatility by tallying 27 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 blocks, contributing significantly to the San Antonio Spurs’ dominant 122-99 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Monday, Feb. 12. Impressively, he accomplished this feat in just 29 minutes of play, confirming his potential as a once-in-a-generation talent.

Addressing the media post-game, Wembanyama shared a humorous remark regarding his outstanding performance.

He quipped, “As a second thought, yes. But I was trying to win first. I almost got a quintuple-double with turnovers too,” acknowledging his seven turnovers during the game.

In addition to his triple-double in blocks, he also recorded five assists and two steals. Notably, this marks his second triple-double of the season, with his first coming against the Detroit Pistons, where he tallied 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists in just 21 minutes of play.

Furthermore, Wembanyama’s record-setting performance on Monday marked the first triple-double with blocks since 2021, when Clint Capela achieved a similar feat with the Atlanta Hawks, recording 13 points, 19 rebounds, and 10 blocks.
