Wide receiver Xavier Worthy broke the record for the fastest 40 at the NFL Scouting Combine this year, grabbing the Chiefs’ attention.

To add more speed to their receiving group, the Kansas City team signed Hollywood Brown in free agency. They further emphasized speed by trading up to bring in the former Texas Longhorn.

After the pick, General Manager Brett Veach expressed hope that Brown and Worthy’s additions would make it harder for defenses to stop the back-to-back Super Bowl champions.

“It’s a speed game, and having more speed on the field makes it tougher for defenses,” Veach stated. “Adding speed and versatility is always appealing. With Xavier and Hollywood, our offense will become more diverse, keeping defenses guessing.”

During the regular season, the Chiefs faced challenges in finding the right mix at receiver. While Rashee Rice’s involvement in a car crash might lead to a suspension, Brown and Worthy offer alternative options to move the ball. Their presence could also create space for tight end Travis Kelce and others to make big plays later in the season.
