The Packers recently made it to the divisional round of the playoffs with the youngest team in the league. They’ve added running back Josh Jacobs and safety Xavier McKinney in free agency, so they’re not desperate for players in the draft.
However, General Manager Brian Gutekunst isn’t planning to trade away some of their 11 draft picks to reduce the number of new players joining the team. Instead, he believes having intense competition for roster spots is beneficial for the team.
Gutekunst explained, “More picks mean more chances to find talented players. I never think we have enough. I believe in having competition in every position, which helps our team grow. Having more picks allows us to achieve that goal.”
The Packers have five picks in the first three rounds, which gives them a good opportunity to strengthen the team for another playoff run.
