Caleb Williams has already assumed the role of starting quarterback in Chicago

In Chicago, there won’t be a manufactured competition for the quarterback position.

Three years after Justin Fields began as the backup, newcomer Caleb Williams is already named as QB1, according to Coach Matt Eberflus.

This isn’t surprising, considering the other options are Tyson Bagent and Brett Rypien. So, it’s clear that Williams will start from the beginning, which is expected for a player drafted so high.

Next week, we’ll see where and when Williams’s career begins.

The Bears might start at Washington, where Williams would face off against Commanders quarterback Caleb Williams, the second overall pick. Williams will also play against the Patriots, who might start third overall pick Drake Maye, and the Vikings, who could start J.J. McCarthy, the 10th pick.
