Jared Goff: Jameson Williams instills fear in every opponent we face

Jared Goff speaks to the media after the game

The Lions didn’t just gain Jared Goff when they traded Matthew Stafford; they also received two first-round draft picks from the Rams. With one of those picks, the Lions moved up in the 2022 NFL draft to pick wide receiver Jameson Williams. Goff is very pleased with how it turned out.

In Monday night’s victory over the Seahawks, Goff only threw two passes to Williams, but one was a 70-yard touchdown. Goff believes this kind of play makes opposing defenses pay attention to Williams every time he’s on the field.

“He’s something else. He’s a one-play touchdown guy. I know he strikes fear in every team we play, and they’re going to see that and it’s going to strike even more fear. He’s a stud and we’re lucky to have him,” Goff said.

Williams had a quiet rookie season because he was still recovering from a knee injury he got in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game while at Alabama.

His second season started off frustrating, as he was suspended for violating the league’s gambling policy. However, four games into his third season, Williams is leading the Lions with 289 receiving yards, making opposing defenses quite wary.
