Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison was arrested in California on suspicion of driving under the influence, marking the second consecutive year he has faced legal issues just before training camp.

The Vikings acknowledged the incident on Monday and stated they are gathering more details but declined further comment.

According to the California Highway Patrol, an officer responded to a report of a disabled vehicle blocking a lane on Interstate 105. Addison was found asleep in the driver’s seat of his white Rolls-Royce. Following a DUI investigation, he was arrested.

The 22-year-old Addison was released two hours later. The CHP did not provide additional information, and Addison’s agent did not respond immediately to requests for comment from The Associated Press.

Selected in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft out of USC, Addison had previously been arrested by the Minnesota State Patrol last year for speeding and reckless driving.

He was caught driving at 140 mph in a 55 mph zone just days before reporting to his first training camp. Addison explained that he was rushing home due to an emergency involving his dog.

He later pleaded guilty to a reduced charge, paid a fine, and had his license suspended for six months. Addison publicly acknowledged his error before the team’s first full practice, expressing regret and a commitment to learning from the experience.

Despite off-field challenges, Addison performed well in his rookie NFL season, participating in all 17 games and tallying 911 receiving yards with 10 touchdowns.

He currently serves as the primary backup to standout receiver Justin Jefferson, amid changes in the Vikings’ offensive lineup following quarterback Kirk Cousins’ departure. Veterans of the team are set to report to training camp soon.
