Wide receiver Mike Evans has secured his spot with the Buccaneers for another two seasons, yet the fate of another longstanding figure within the organization remains uncertain.
Linebacker Lavonte David expressed his delight over Evans’ new deal with the Bucs, emphasizing that he’s consistently communicated with the team regarding his impending free agency.
David conveyed his optimism, stating that his strong performance during the 2023 season has given him some leverage, and he hopes to continue his tenure with the Buccaneers for a 13th season.
“While I would certainly cherish finishing my career with the organization I’ve been a part of for the past 12 years, anything can happen,” David shared during an interview on SiriusXM NFL Radio. “I’m staying focused on what I can control and allowing everything else to unfold.”
With David set to engage in discussions with other teams starting next Monday, the outcome of those conversations could determine whether he follows in Evans’ footsteps and has the opportunity to remain with one team throughout his career.
