In a season when NFL kickers are performing better than ever, the Packers and kicker Brayden Narveson stand out for the wrong reasons.

Packers coach Matt LaFleur claims he’s confident in Narveson, but it’s hard to see why based on the Packers’ performance this year.

Green Bay is the only team in the NFL with four missed field goals so far. Only one other team, the Ravens with Justin Tucker, has missed three.

Narveson isn’t missing field goals because he’s attempting long kicks. On Sunday against the Vikings, he missed a 37-yard attempt, which is the shortest missed field goal in the NFL this season.

His other missed kicks were from 49, 45, and 43 yards; he’s the only kicker in the league who has missed three field goals from 40 to 49 yards. He hasn’t even attempted a field goal from 50 yards or more.

While NFL kickers have made 87 percent of their attempts this season, Narveson has made only 69 percent. LaFleur may have faith in him, but there’s not much reason for others to share that confidence.
