Saquon Barkley shone in his game against the Giants, especially after fans burned his old jerseys. Jalen Hurts played a clean game without turnovers for the second week in a row.
Coach Nick Sirianni focused on making big plays, including scoring on two fourth-down attempts, instead of reacting to the fans in the stands.
When the Eagles put aside distractions and mistakes, they showed they can still be a strong team.
Philadelphia is gaining momentum with Barkley performing like the star running back they need. Hurts, while not quite at the MVP level he reached two seasons ago, is keeping the ball safe and scoring with his signature plays.
The defense is also finally playing well enough to worry opposing teams.
Winning against weaker teams like Cleveland and the New York Giants may not fully prove the Eagles are serious Super Bowl contenders, but building confidence and good habits is essential. These are the traits that define successful teams, and despite last season’s struggles, the Eagles still have the potential to be among the best in the NFL.
“I love this team,” Sirianni said.
There was a lot to appreciate on Sunday against the Giants. Barkley rushed for 176 yards and a touchdown in an emotional game against his former team. Hurts completed 10 of 14 passes for 114 yards, scored two touchdowns on quarterback sneaks, and threw a 41-yard touchdown to A.J. Brown.
Barkley’s 658 rushing yards in 2024 are the highest by an Eagles running back in the first six games of a season.
“I think we won convincingly, but we still left some food out there and played with our food, and that’s the beauty of it,” Barkley said.
The Eagles (4-2) made their victory look easy, even though they were once again scoreless in the first quarter. They are the only team in the NFL that has not scored in the first quarter this season.
