NFL commissioner Roger Goodell greets fans before an NFL football game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Green Bay Packers

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said on Friday that he would like to see the league have up to 16 international games each season.

“The ownership’s approved eight games already,” Goodell said before the NFL’s first game in Brazil. “I hope to get that to 16 at some point in the future. Let’s see how that goes.”

Goodell spoke on Peacock before the streaming service’s broadcast of Friday night’s game between the Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles, which was the first NFL game held in South America and one of five international games scheduled for 2024.

This includes three games in London.

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will host a New York Jets vs. Minnesota Vikings game on Oct. 6 and a Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Chicago Bears game on Oct. 13. The Jaguars will play the New England Patriots at Wembley Stadium on Oct. 20.

Another international game features the New York Giants against the Carolina Panthers in Munich’s Allianz Arena on Nov. 10.

The NFL is also planning a game in Madrid for 2025, though the date and teams have not been announced.

In December, owners voted to allow the league to host eight international games each season.
