Russell Wilson’s catchphrase for the Steelers didn’t quite match the impact of ‘Broncos Country, Let’s Ride’

Russell Wilson’s iconic mantra during his stint with the Denver Broncos captivated fans nationwide.

“Broncos country, let’s ride,” he enthusiastically reiterated during a promotional video shoot in 2022, instantly making waves across social media. Wilson often concluded his press conferences in Denver with this rallying cry.

Now donning the black and gold of the Pittsburgh Steelers following his recent one-year contract signing, Wilson’s debut catchphrase for Steelers faithful wasn’t as bold.

“Hey, Steeler Nation! Just signed, baby,” Wilson exclaimed in a video shared on social media. “Fired up to wear the black and gold. Here we go.” While enthusiastic, it lacked the same impact.

With Pittsburgh trading former first-round pick Kenny Pickett to the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday, Wilson faces minimal competition for the Steelers’ starting quarterback position in 2024.

Wilson steps into an offense that struggled last season, ranking 25th in total yards (304.3) and 28th in points (17.9) per game in the NFL. He will collaborate with new Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, formerly the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons.

The Steelers are scheduled to face the Denver Broncos at Mile High Stadium during the 2024 regular season. Perhaps by then, Wilson will have coined a new Pittsburgh tagline.
