Nyheim Hines

The Bills are parting ways with running back Nyheim Hines. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Buffalo intends to release Hines sometime in the upcoming week.

This move suggests that the Bills are open to trading Hines if another team expresses interest in acquiring him. Schefter adds that Hines is expected to return for training camp.

Hines sat out the entire 2023 season due to an ACL tear suffered in a jet skiing accident. Reports indicated that he planned to take legal action against those he believed were responsible for the accident.

Buffalo acquired Hines in the middle of the 2022 season from the Colts, with Zack Moss and a conditional sixth-round pick going to Indianapolis. Hines primarily served as a returner for the Bills for the remainder of that season, including a memorable performance returning kickoffs in their Week 18 win over the Patriots.

Drafted in the fourth round of the 2018 draft, Hines has accumulated 1,202 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns, along with 1,778 receiving yards and eight touchdowns in his career. He has appeared in 81 games with 17 starts.

Releasing him will free up $4.66 million in cap space for the Bills.
