The Cowboys have made a strategic move ahead of the new league year, aiming to alleviate cap pressure.

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Media, they have restructured the contract of right guard Zack Martin. By converting a portion of Martin’s salary into a bonus, they’ve successfully freed up $13 million in cap space.

Martin, who inked a revised deal with the Cowboys last year, is entering the final stretch of his contract. The inclusion of void years allows the team to distribute the remaining cap hit over an extended period.

While this move helps, the Cowboys could further bolster their cap flexibility by extending quarterback Dak Prescott’s contract. However, there hasn’t been any indication of progress on that front so far this offseason.
