The Panthers have decided to keep one of their experienced defenders on board. According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Media, cornerback Troy Hill has inked a one-year deal to stay with Carolina.

Hill, aged 32, joined the Panthers last August and featured in all 16 games for the team, starting three of them. Throughout the season, he tallied 48 total tackles, along with six passes defensed, an interception, and a forced fumble.

Hill saw action on 47 percent of Carolina’s defensive snaps. Having previously played under defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero during his time with the Rams, Hill brings familiarity to the Panthers’ defensive scheme.

Despite the change in head coach with Dave Canales taking over, Evero’s retention for the 2024 season likely influenced Hill’s decision to remain with the team.

With 113 games and 58 starts under his belt, Hill boasts a career stat line of 40 passes defensed and nine interceptions, three of which he returned for touchdowns.
